Just Peachy

For a typography course we were challenged to create a visual language for a series of menus and a cookbook for a fictional restaurant. I chose to create a restaurant in my home city of St Louis, based loosely on dishes made popular there. The food is hearty and heavy midwestern classics like toasted ravioli and gooey buttercake, served in a gourmet setting, so in contrast the menus and aesthetic of restaurant was light and vintage. Using flower etchings and sketches from the Spirit of St Louis aircraft, I created watermarking and texture throughout each piece. To further this contrast, I used bold vintage typefaces to pull the hierarchy together, on the menus and the throughout the book. In the book I also brought in vintage images and stories of the history of St Louis to tie in the vintage elements to the content of the book. Being one of the first books I had set on my own I was happy with my results with this project.

JUST PEACHY: Digital Marketing Campaign

Just Peachy began as a business idea, the concept being Plus-size Women’s Active wear. The collection was to be sold online and the advertising and marketing done through social media and social; media influencers. For a studio course, we were encouraged to focus on one Digital Marketing Campaign project to expand upon a business idea we were already developing. I thought this would provide the perfect opportunity to to design a digital marketing plan for my Just Peachy business idea. I created a logo and visual language for the business, and began building advertisements for Email, Facebook, and Instagram. My research led me to believe that these three platforms would best fit the needs of this campaign, as they are actively used by those customers I was targeting with the business idea. I also expanded my design language further with the layout for of a couple of web pages for a business website. I would like to revisit this when I have more time and resources; I plan to create original photography and patterns for the leggings and other clothing items.
